Day 358- John, 15, Glasgow

When I was 13 I founded a charity which provides grants and specialist equipment to children in the East End of Glasgow who have a disability. Proud YoYP ambassador. Mental health youth Commissioner.

Which young Scot inspires you?
The young Scot that inspires me is each and every single one of them. We all have a story to tell which results in positive change in our local communities and can have a huge impact on so many peoples lives.

What is the best thing about growing up in Scotland?
Growing up in Scotland is amazing. To have so much opportunity and to be told each and every day that you can achieve what you want to achieve shows that Scotland is for the people by the people in safe hands.

What would you most like people from older generations to know about young people?
I would like older generations to know that young people aren’t what you think. We can offer so much change if the opportunities arrive. Give us a shout and of course, we’ll help with your shopping or cut your grass šŸ˜‰

What is your biggest achievement to date?
Personally my biggest achievement is getting to play a part in each of those children’s lives that my foundation helps whether it be grants or specialist equipment . Having a positive impact and making memories with people who need you there, whats not to love about that?

What would you most like to achieve in the future?
I want to achieve change. A Scotland for all. By all for all. We need to collectively work to achieve that special place we all want to be. Young people are key to this. Work together and achieve a better outcome

What message would you like to give to other young people in Scotland?
You cannot achieve success without failure. Some of my biggest successes come from my biggest failures. Don’t be afraid to close your eyes and dream but then open your eyes and see. For a lot of people the distance between their dreams and reality is intimidating.
