Day 308- Kirstin, 16, Edinburgh

Kirstin is in 6th year of school and recently participated in the Baby Box design workshop at Young Scot.

What is the best thing about growing up in Scotland?
I like growing up in Scotland because I am near my family and I appreciate the many opportunities that are available to young people.

What would you most like people from older generations to know about young people?
Our voice is just as important.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
I took part in Design Ventura 2015/16 and designed a sign language learning puzzle based on the brief ‘move’. I was in the top 10 shortlist out of 271 UK schools and was the only design in Scotland to reach the top 10. Through this I was able to pitch to designers such as Sebastian Convan and Naomi Cleaver.

What would you most like to achieve in the future?
I would like to go to university to do interior design or product design.

What message would you like to give to other young people in Scotland?
Believe in yourself!
