Jess is in RCS-BMUS trad fiddle 1st year. Working as an after-school teaching assistant in a gaidhlig primary school, teach fiddle and volunteer at a local church kids club and churches in Northern Ireland.

1d bliadhna RCS-BMUS fidheall traidiseanta. Tha mi ag obair mar co-chuidiche-teagaisg ann am bun-sgoil às dèidh àm na sgoile agus mi cuideachd a’ teagaisg an fidheall agus ag obair saor-thoileach ann am buidhnean-cloinne agus eaglaisean ann an Èirinn a Tuath.

Which young Scot inspires you?
Cò an neach òg a tha do dheachdadh?

One of my closest friends Imogen because she just goes for whatever she wants; she puts all in to make sure she gets to the place she wants to be at.

Fear de na càraidean as fheàrr agam, Imogen, o’ chionn ‘s gu bheil I ag obair cho cruaidh ‘s  a tha i comasach gus dèanamh cinnteach gun fhaigh I na tha I ag iarraidh.

What is the best thing about growing up in Scotland?
Dè an rud as fheàrr mu dheidhinn a bhidh air do thogail ann an Alba?

My favourite thing about living in Scotland is free further education or else I wouldn’t be able to have done what I want to do.

‘S e an rud as fheàrr leum mu dheidhinn a bhidh air mo thogail ann an Alba an fhoghlam adhartach an-asgaidh. Gun seo cha bhithinn comasach a bhith a’ dèanamh na tha mi ag iarraidh.

What would you most like people from older generations to know about young people?
Dè bheil thu airson gum biodh fhios aig na ginealaichean na bu shine mu na h-òigridh?

I would want older people to know we actually aren’t idiots and are up for real conversations. Ask us questions about what we are doing; we don’t just mess about on the streets.

Bithinn airson gum biodh fhios aig na ginealaichean na bu shine gu bheil na h-òigridh airson còmhraidhean oireamhnach a’ gabhail agus chan ann dìreach amadain a tha sinn. Cur ceistean oirnn mu na tha sinn a’ dèanamh oir chan ann dabhadaich a tha sinn ris.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
Dè am buidhinn as motha agad gu ruige seo?

My biggest achievement to date is getting into the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and getting the opportunity to play at Celtic Connections and playing with big trad artists.

‘S e a bhidh a’ faighinn a-steach dhan Conservatoire Rìoghail na h-Alba gus an cothrom fhaighinn a bhidh a’ cluich aig Celtic Connections agus a’ cluich còmhla ri còmhlain-cluich mòr am buidhinn as motha a tha mi air ruigsinn gun ìre seo.

What would you most like to achieve in the future?
Dè na buidhinn a thathar airson ruigsinn san àm ri teachd?

I want to be a music therapist and help kids with disabilities communicate.

Tha mi airson a bhidh nam leasaiche-ciùil gus clann le ciorramachdan a’ cuideachadh.

What message would you like to give to other young people in Scotland?
Dè an teachdaireachd a thathar airson toirt gu na h-òigridh eile?

Go for your dream and keep on going even if you have lots of low moments because you will eventually get what you strive for.

Ged ‘s gum bidh amannan doirbh agad, cùm a’ dol ag obair gus an fhaigh thu na tha thu ag iarraidh.
