Day 128 – Katie, 12, West Lothian

Katie currently attends school in Blackburn where she is in S1.

Which young Scot inspires you?
My best friend Kayla is an inspirational person not just to me. She helped me through the toughest times in my life. I  would like to thank her for that. She is a beautiful young girl who many people look up to. She inspired me to think more of me and to believe in myself and to look forward to what could happen in the future.

What is the best thing about growing up in Scotland?
The best thing about growing up in Scotland is the scenery and the people that live here. Scotland is one of the most beautiful places to live in the world. I think that anyway . I like that it rains here because rain is so beautiful when you think about it.

What would you most like people from older generations to know about young people?
I would like them to know that we don’t just sit in our beds and go on our phones, laptops, x boxes etc. We do like to do things outside of the house. The younger generation are the best in my opinion. We are considerate and helpful to anyone and everything.

What is your biggest achievement to date?
My biggest achievement is going to high school because I was bullied in primary school and didn’t know what to expect. It was bad. I’ve been getting bullied all of first year but I am starting to over come this and become the person I really want to be .

What would you most like to achieve in the future?
I want to become a doctor in the future and that won’t be easy because I will need to get straight A’s. It would mean so much to me because I really want to help people and make people feel better or at least try to.

What message would you like to give to other young people in Scotland?
My advice would be to stand out of the crowd because you need to be confident in yourself. Don’t let anyone bring you down because I know from experience that if you do, it could affect your life forever. Also, live your life to the full because you don’t know what could happen in the future.
