Day 95- Dominic, 15, Glasgow

Dominic studies mostly Electronic/Computing subjects at school, does a course in Video Game Development Every Tuesday and Thursday and is in 4th year at a Gaidhlig School.

Which young Scot inspires you?
The workers of Rockstar North inspire me because they create video games and thats what i want to do for a living. They work hard to create Video Games for the public to enjoy and do the world a favour by providing entertainment to young people.

What is the best thing about growing up in Scotland?
I think the best thing about living in Scotland is knowing that i am not stuck here for the rest of my life. There are so many opportunities to create careers and business areas that can involve traveling the world. I would love to be able to travel places like Japan and i know that this will be possible.

What would you most like people from older generations to know about young people?
I would tell them something quite nit-picky to me. I know this relates to many other people of the gaming community but I would say “Online Video Games don’t have a pause button” and “Please find out what console your kid has before you buy a game for the wrong console, just attempt to educate yourself of this area of our generation.”

What is your biggest achievement to date?
I feel personally that my biggest achievement has been telling my parents that I’ve been going through some tough time with my mental health. I had been going through some problems in school for the past year and now that I have told someone I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

What would you most like to achieve in the future?
I would love to have a high position in a Game Development Company because that’s always been my dream. People who create these games have inspired me to do the same and I would love to provide entertainment to the public just like these legends have done in the past.

What message would you like to give to other young people in Scotland?
I know that this is quite a cliche answer, but to anyone going through a tough time, please don’t do anything radical. Things will almost all the time get instantly better if you can tell someone. Almost anyone can provide that small amount of support that you may need to thrive in your environment.
